Spectators forget how strong pole vaulters have to be to manipulate their torsos with that pole. I tried it out in high school. Had to settle for long distance racing. Nice shots.

Yes, I’ve often thought the same thing – the incredible strength, the height achieved….and that the pole bends so much and doesn’t snap. 🙂
